BiographyAnne Ryle was the sister of James Catnach who rang Catnach Press from Monmouth Court, Seven Dials, London, from 1813 to his retirement in 1838. After his death in 1841 she took over the press with a partner James Paul, operating it as A Ryle & Paul. The partnership was dissolved in 1845, the press then operated as Ryle & Co. until she sold it to W.S. Fortey sometime in the later 1840s. Anne Ryle was born in India in 1823 and died in 1870.
