BiographyTerry Fitzgerald learned to surf at Maroubra Beach, New South Wales, and later on Sydney's northern beaches. After learning surfboard-crafting skills through Joe Larkin at Kirra in Queensland, he returned to Sydney and in 1970 founded Hot Buttered in Brookvale. In addition, a competitive surfer, Fitzgerald travelled overseas to competitions including Hawaii, Indonesia and South Africa. He became recognized for his great speed on the water, all the while fine-tuning his surfboard designs. Fitzgerald was referred to as a “total surfer -- a man who could ride any wave, anywhere, on his own equipment, without compromise."
Fitzgerald was a founding member of the Australian Professional Surfers Association and has continued to expand Hot Buttered internationally, branching out into surf, and skate wear.
