Piz Buin

BiographyPiz Buin is the trading name of a Swiss suncream firm, based in Zug, Switzerland.

The brand traces its origin back to Franz Greiter, a young chemistry student, who suffered severe sunburn while climbing Piz Buin, a mountain in the Silvretta range of the Swiss Alps on the border between Austria and Switzerland in 1938.

The company was the first to introduce the Sun Protection Factor (SPF), which has now become a worldwide standard.
