BiographyBorn Helen Selina Sheridan she was the daughter of Thomas Sheridan, an actor, soldier and colonial administrator and grandaughter of Irish playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan. Her mother was Caroline Henrietta Sheridan (née Callander, a novelist. Helen married Price Blackwood who became Lord Dufferin, subsequently she was known as Baroness Dufferin and Claneboye. She wrote poems, songs and plays and a satire on lady travellers called 'Lispings from Low Latitudes, or, Extracts from the Journal of the Hon. Impulsia Gushington'.
