BiographyThe Australian Government formed a shipping company after WWI which became the Australian Commonwealth Line in 1923. The company was bought by Lord Kylsant's shipping empire in 1928, his other companies included White Star Line, Shaw, Savill & Albion, and the Aberdeen Line. The name of the company was changed in 1928 to the Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line as the Aberdeen Line had been engaged in the Australian trade since 1840 and therefore had good associations with the public. In 1933 the Kyslant organisation was declared bankrupt, the Aberdeen & Commonwealth Line was awarded to the reorganised Shaw, Savill & Albion Company.
