HistoryThe article relating to the engraving reads 'Several vessels of the Australian Squadron including the ORLANDO with Rear Admiral Bridge on board have rendezvoued in Hobson's Bay. It is a considerable time since the navy was so strongly represented in our waters, and the visit attracted a good deal of interest. On the 15th March the flagships reached the heads, and being joined there by RINGAROOMA, ROYALIST, RAPID, GOLDFINCH and LIZARD, came up the Bay in evolutionary order. Our sketch is taken at the time when the ORLANDO is returning the salvo of greeting from NELSON's guns. The RINGAROOMA will not remain in with the other vessels of the fleet for any time, as her orders at present are to leave Port Phillip for Auckland on 11th March. The ORLANDO, RAPID, GOLDFINCH, ROYALIST and LIZARD will go on to Adelaide from Melbourne en route to Sydney. They are due at the latter about 1st May'.
