DescriptionThis archive series numbered [001] - [048] consists of surf life saving magazines collected by Ballina Surf Life Saving Club lifesaver Jim Flanagan. It includes 17 issues of 'Bondi Surfer', 28 issues of 'Surf in Australia', and an issue of 'The Bulletin', 'BP' and 'Atlantic'.SignificanceJim Flanagan was a surf lifesaver with the Ballina Surf Life Saving Club on the far north coast of New South Wales from the 1920s onwards. The material in this collection is significant in chronicling some aspects of life of a typical lifesaver in the early days of the surf lifesaving movement in Australia.
