DescriptionThe log book and diary was written by Robert Shields (1862-1913), a bank clerk from Stirlingshire, Scotland. It begins on 15 December 1883 with the train trip from Falkirk to Glasgow with his father then boarding the ship from Greenkoch via a tug. An account of the voyage is given with the landing at Melbourne. The author proceeds to Sydney on the SS LEURA and finds work at the Bank of New Zealand.
