On the reverse is a five stanza poem titled "He Never Blamed the Booze".
HistorySutton's bar was promoted as a steamship officers resort, and the proprietor, J.B.Sutton, had been the purser on American steamship SS ALAMEDA. Sutton was the sole agent for a range of American beers and spirits and in this advertisement boasts that 'All American mixed drinks [are] made by American Bartenders'
and American money is taken and American papers are available.
SignificanceThis advertisement well illustrates how American servicemen were catered for on the Australian home front.
