DescriptionThis engraving featured in the 7th edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica published between 1830 and 1842. The plate depicts several illustrations of sea-lights and light houses, including sections of a catadioptric light, a revolving catoptric light, Bell Rock lighthouse and the Eddystone lighthouse; plans of a fixed and a revolving catoptric light; and elevation of Gordon lighthouse. This engraving probably featured in the 7th edition ‘Encyclopaedia Britannica: A Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, and General Literature’ published in 1842.
